I've been thinking a lot about love lately. What it is. What it isn't. Love isn't a feeling. It is an action.
What love looks like...
A husband letting go of his desire of a pristine yard and resisting the urge to spray weeds because he knows his wife loves to see them growing and loves knowing that they are there in case she needs to use them.
A wife giving up wall space in her living room and dining room so that her husband can hang his deer heads.
A long-legged brother slowing his pace so that his toddler sister can "help" him with chores.
A big sister helping a little sister sound out or spell a word.
A daughter making her mom's favorite soup for lunch.
A daughter packing a bag of fresh baked cookies in her dad's lunch box.
A son tilling the garden.
A mom stopping what she is doing to rock a tired, crabby baby.
A mom helping her teen learn how to balance a checkbook.
A dad letting little hands "help" with a project.
A dad teaching his teen daughter how to change oil and tires.
Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails.. I Corinthians 13: 4-8.
What does love look like to you?
